ScanAgile Code of Conduct

All members, attendees, organisers, speakers, sponsors and volunteers involved in ScanAgile are required to agree with the following this code of conduct. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a respectful, safe and inclusive environment for everybody.

The Quick Version

Agile Finland and conference ScanAgile is a community where we strive to create safer spaces for community members to learn from each other. Oppressive or harassing language or behaviour is not allowed. If you are asked to stop, you will stop immediately. The full code of conduct is there to help you understand. If you see or experience something that is or might be a violation of the code of conduct please reach out to the organisers or directly to the harassment contact person.

The Longer Version

Agile Finland and conference ScanAGgile is a community where we strive to create safer spaces for community members to learn from each other. This document establishes a shared understanding of how we interact to foster a positive environment. Use this document to help create a welcoming and safe experience for all participants. The Agile Finland code of conduct governs Agile Finland events and virtual spaces. This includes members, visitors, sponsors and speakers.

Don’t do this

Agile.fi is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

    • Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion.
    • Sexual images in public spaces
    • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following 
    • Harassing photography or recording
    • Sustained disruption of talks or other events
    • Inappropriate physical contact
    • Unwelcome sexual attention
    • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour
    • Weaponizing this Code of Conduct.

The Code of Conduct does not enable complaints regarding:

  • “Reverse discrimination”, such as reverse racism and cisphobia because challenging biases and privileges is not a form of discrimination;
  • Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as “I want you to stop that”, “leave me alone”, “go away”, or “I’m not discussing this with you;”
  • Refusal to explain or debate social justice concepts;
  • Communicating in a ‘tone’ you don’t find congenial;
  • Criticising oppressive behaviour or assumptions including, but not limited to racism, sexism, cissexism, or others.

Enforcement

Every person under the code of conduct is expected to uphold it and use it to reflect and question both your own behaviour and the behaviour you witness. You are encouraged to speak up and ask the unwanted behaviour to stop. If you are asked to stop you are expected to stop immediately. 

Repercussions

When you are given feedback based on the code of conduct you are expected to try to learn and understand the effects of the behaviour questioned.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, event organisers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. Community event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the event organisers.
